Inspiring Individuals: Kiya

01 March 2021

Kiya, aged 11, lives locally to Chailey Heritage Foundation and decided to swim 10,000m in a month to support the Charity. She has just completed her challenge and has raised over £1,500.

Here's why Kiya got involved:

"I was inspired by a friend who is also taking on a lockdown challenge, and I thought it would help at this very difficult time as charities are suffering because of Covid and lockdown. My school Burgess Hill Girls supports Chailey so I was familiar with the charity. It is local to me and so I am aware of the wonderful work they do. I admire them very much.

My challenge was to swim 10,000m over the course of February  This distance represents the distance between my house and Chailey. I've been doing laps every lunch time in my school break. I would love to do an annual challenge for Chailey next year, I will work on ideas!"

Well done Kiya. Through your challenge you have raised a fantastic total which will help to support children and young people with complex disabilities here at Chailey Heritage. You should be so proud of what you have achieved!
