Gardening Volunteer

We are looking for motivated individuals with good knowledge and experience of gardening who can work on our ‘Futures’ and ‘Celebration’ gardens for residents, families and their staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Division and propagation of plants and planting  
  • Watering and feeding plants, trees and shrubs
  • Digging over, mulching and manuring borders
  • Hand weeding, hoeing, raking, staking, deadheading, tying-in plants and cutting back the flower and shrub borders and hedging
  •  Liaison with House Managers on planting schemes, taking into account the wishes of the residents, and ensuring the gardens are a fully immersive and sensory experience.

Above all, we are looking for individuals with:

  •  A passion for gardening, and sharing their years of experience with a small team of volunteers
  • Someone who enjoys meeting others and would gain satisfaction from the knowledge that you are helping the young people and families of CHF to enjoy the outdoors
