We are seeking……a Volunteer Gardener

Description of role: 

We are looking for a motivated individual with good knowledge and experience of gardening who can work on our newly installed ‘Futures’ and ‘Celebration’ gardens for residents, families and their staff

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Division and propagation of plants and planting  
  • Watering and feeding plants, trees and shrubs
  • Digging over, mulching and manuring borders
  • Hand weeding, hoeing, raking, staking, deadheading, tying-in plants and cutting back the flower and shrub borders and hedging
  •  Liaison with House Managers on planting schemes, taking into account the wishes of the residents, and ensuring the gardens are a fully immersive and sensory experience.

Above all, we are looking for an individual with:

  •  A passion for gardening, and sharing their years of experience with a small team of volunteers
  • Someone who enjoys meeting others and would gain satisfaction from the knowledge that you are helping the young people and families of CHF to enjoy the outdoors
