Short breaks for children and young people

We offer short breaks for children and young people aged 3 to 19 with complex disabilities and health needs located at our residential bungalows in Chailey, East Sussex.

Our short breaks provide families and carers of children and young people with disabilities the chance to take some time off.

You can relax in knowing that your child is supported by our team of experienced staff who work hard to provide a fun and meaningful break.

Our homely and relaxed environment ensures children and young people staying with us feel safe and comfortable. All bungalows are fully accessible, with in-built hoists, sensory areas, open plan living spaces and a garden for residents to enjoy.

What if my child needs nursing support whilst on a short break?

Children and young people accessing short breaks with us are supported by 24/7 nursing support. We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with NHS Chailey Clinical Services who are located on-site and provide support to our residents whenever they need it. Our NHS partnership gives us access to neurological consultants, nurses, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation engineers all on one site.

What types of short breaks do Chailey Heritage Foundation offer?

Our short breaks include overnight stays from three to four nights a week and we request a booking of a minimum of one stay per month. Our day short breaks include access to our Hub for those aged 16+ from 10am – 4pm. We also have a holiday club during the Easter and summer holidays with an exciting programme of seasonal activities.
