Inaugural Chailey Games celebrates sporting inclusivity

22 Aug 2019

Chailey Heritage Foundation celebrated its first ‘Chailey Games’ last week, with 48 competitors taking part across 5 sports.

Fitness Centre Manager Dan Burnett commented:

“We see how important exercise is to all of the guys when they access Futures Life Skills Centre, the progress they make is fantastic, building confidence and social skills as well as improving the more obvious things like strength and coordination.”
“We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to compete, we see it in the gym with our marathon and ultra-marathon challenges, but the Chailey games allowed them to directly compete with one another in front of a crowd and everyone absolutely loved it”

Competitors and spectators were joined by Sussex based Paralympian hopeful Lizzie Williams who held a Question and Answer session and presented medals as part of the closing ceremony.
