Architectural historians visit St Martin's Chapel

27 Feb 2019

On 27 February, Dr Martin Knott (a Governor of Chailey Heritage School in the late 1980’s) and Martin Jones visited to spend the morning in St Martin’s Chapel. They are both ecclesiastical and architectural historians and were very interested to see the architects, Sir Ninian Comper and his son, Sebastian’s, work. St Martin’s Chapel was built in 1913 as a gift from Mrs Harcourt Rose to her husband. After his visit, Martin Jones said “Comper’s amazing Chapel and the many fixtures and fittings he designed for it are a spectacular treasure”.
