At the Life Skills Centre we have a new and varied timetable that we have recently introduced. We have started to use some new switch machines in the Table cricket sessions. The machines have enabled more service users to successfully participate in the session. The idea is that the participant presses a switch when bowling which will then propel a ball down the table towards the batter. The batter will then also have a switch, which when pressed will activate a batting machine which can strike the ball up the table.
The machines are brilliant for increasing players co-ordination, reactions, and communication. Toby has participated in the table cricket sessions before, however it’s very hard for him to grip onto a bat. The switch machines have enabled Toby to successfully take part, and have given him more independence with the ability to make his own decisions.
