Andy has been attending art sessions at the Life Skills Centre for a few years now. He prefers the sensory sound and scents activities within the session. During art, Andy has been experiencing the needle felting technique. The different colour wools were pulled apart by Andy into fine sections. The threads were then placed onto the cushion. This activity creates a real crunching sound as well as a popping noise when the needle touches the sponge.
Andy worked really well with his support worker and was engaged throughout the activity, holding her hand and working together to join the threads.
These pieces have been made to accompany a project Andy has been working on where he is using the sewing machine to create sensory cushions. The fabrics are all chosen by Andy. They have all been sewn together and placed into his own bag. The bag can then be used in the bungalow when Andy wishes.
Fantastic work, Andy!
