Justine joined the gym in August 2017. Justine suffered a serious brain injury back in 2014, that left her with very little active movement. Justine is very competitive and loves a challenge. One of the assisted pieces of equipment that Justine uses in the gym is a hand bike and foot bike. We set Justine a challenge a while back to complete a marathon of 26.2miles with her legs and the same distance with her arms.
We are delighted to say that Justine has just completed the challenge. Since using the gym Justine has really noticed an increase in her upper body and lower body range of movement. Justine really enjoys the social element of the gym and meeting new people in her sessions. She has a very competitive streak and can often be seen racing on the bike next to another gym user.
One of the activities that Justine enjoyed before her injury was cycling outside and this would be something that she did regularly. Justine is now able to do the cycling again in the gym and that is also something that she really enjoys.
A big well done to Justine from Dan, Charles and everyone at the Life Skills Centre.
