The 2018 Focus 10K

Borde Hill Garden turns purple for Focus 10K

Chailey Heritage Foundation staged its first 10K run at Borde Hill Garden, near Haywards Heath. The event, which was kindly sponsored by Focus Group, is raising money for the charity’s £3.1m appeal to build the D.R.E.A.M (dynamic, real, experiential, amazing, magical) Centre; a modern, purpose-built space, large enough for children and young people with complex disabilities to participate in a mixture of arts and physical activities. It will be jam packed with sporting and physical activities that all young people will enjoy, together with opportunities to perform on stage to friends and families and be transported virtually to exotic locations like the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

Sally-Anne Murray, Development Director from Chailey Heritage Foundation said:

“We’re thrilled so many people joined us for the Focus 10K, and we’re especially pleased to see so many children and families here. Borde Hill Garden is such a wonderful venue and we couldn’t have done it without our Headline sponsor, Focus Group, and the support of our other sponsors who helped with fulfilment, printing, and event sponsorship, along with our amazing volunteers who supported us on the day”

The day started with over 100 children taking part in a ‘mini-mile’ race before almost 500 runners took to a picturesque cross-country course to complete either 5K or 10K. First back on the 5K was Caroline Wood setting a course record of 20 minutes 27 seconds. Leading the way with the 10K was Luke Hunt establishing a course record of 37 minutes 44 seconds. Sofia Celani and George Gilbert won the girls and boys mini miles respectively.
