African Drumming Workshop

1 May 2018

We absolutely loved spending the day with Kwame playing and feeling the beat of African drums.

He arrived in his red van all the way from the New Forest and when he opened it we couldn’t believe how many drums there were! One amazing man and LOTS of drums!

Ever adaptable, Kwame had to set up in the school chapel as the weather wasn’t kind and the school had a lot of building work going on. Despite this smaller space, Kwame managed to fit everyone in comfortably and with room to dance as well! (We discovered that some of our teaching assistants are awesome dancers!)

Our students have profound physical, medical and sensory impairments and Kwame’s drumming sessions brought a smile to so many faces! The rhythmic sounds along with the vibrations of the drums were engaging and accessible to everyone. We really recommend other schools (both mainstream and special schools) booking these amazing sessions.
