To reduce the possibility of transmission of COVID-19, it was necessary, right from the beginning to close the parents’ room and apartments to families. There are no plans to open them in the immediate future, but we will review this depending on the rate of transmission and government guidance and, of course, consider very urgent requests.
The Jewell Trust Family Liaison Worker continues to be available to support families. Parents are welcome to continue to contact her by email for any help or support they need by email: Denise.Howard2@nhs.net
For Chailey Heritage families without any support at home, we plan to offer some activities on site over the summer holidays taking full account of government guidance and sufficient NHS nurses to support those who want to attend.
Changes in daily life to help everyone to stay safe during the pandemic has often been particularly difficult for children with disabilities and their families. We encouraged families to have their voice heard by taking part in the Disabled Children’s Partnership survey and sharing the outcomes widely in support of the #LifeInLockdown campaign.
Keep Calm and Celebrate
Everyone is determined that Celebration Day should still happen in 2020 in spite of COVID-19. Thanks to wonderfully inventive staff, led by a school team, there will be a new virtual dimension to Celebration Day so that we hope families can join from home for the exciting Hawiian themed events and activites on Friday, 17 July.
