Chailey Heritage Foundation has been changing the lives of young people with disabilities since 1903. Today, we are one of the UK’s leading centres for children and young people with complex neurodisabilities, supporting 270 young people across all our services. We have a special school (including boarding facilities), as well as a wide range of residential and day services for young adults. Over 430 staff and 100 volunteers help every day to deliver our mission that each young person should have every opportunity to fulfil their potential, no matter what the challenges.
Following a period of sustained growth, diversification, and a governance review, as well as part of our succession planning, we are now looking to appoint up to three new Trustees.
We are seeking people to join our Board who are able to commit the time and energy to help our Charity pursue its next phase of development. We are particularly interested in strong team players with experience and skills in the following areas:
The Charity has a highly experienced and engaged Trustee Board and you will play a vital role in governance and shaping the strategic direction of the Charity. The Board meets in East Sussex four times a year (usually February, April, July and December) plus one strategic planning day. We also expect Trustees to be a member of at least one of the sub committees: Finance, Fundraising, Property, Appointments or Strategy.
We recognise the enormous benefits of a diverse Trustee Board and encourage applications from a range of backgrounds. This is a voluntary position but reasonable out-of-pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed.
