Helen Dunman and Paula Marten visited Collingwood Primary School in Barnet, North London on Monday 29th October.
Helen lead a session at the schools’ INSET day (repeated three times) advising on teaching about puberty, personal safety and sexual development for learners with disabilities. The session was attended by school staff at all levels and parents too - the verbal and written feedback was fantastic. Helen and Paula were available for questions at break and lunchtime so there were lots of networking opportunities. Some of the questions and concerns raised by parents and teachers showed the huge need for more information about this essential topic! The honest, pragmatic and realistic approach taken by Chailey Heritage staff today was much appreciated by all those attending!
