Young people from Chailey Heritage Foundation have come together with staff, family and friends for the Charity’s annual celebration day to recognise the efforts and achievements made by all the pupils in school and the young adults living on site.
This year’s Mardi Gras theme really set the tone and spirit for the day’s celebrations with everyone getting into the party mood and enjoying the carnival atmosphere.
The afternoon’s programme started with a parade around the site, accompanied by a drumming group. Awards presented on the day recognised not only the tremendous efforts and achievements in areas such as communication and powered wheelchair driving, but also the care and affection shown to one another and to those around them, often in the face of very serious and demanding challenges and circumstances.
Simon Yates, Headteacher of Chailey Heritage School commented: “We all love Celebration Day. Not only parents, but whole families come along and join in; grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. It really is a fabulous day with our young people’s amazing achievements at the heart of it, always supported by our incredibly dedicated and inspiring staff.”
A special thank you to The Friends of Chailey Heritage Foundation who fund Celebration Day.
