Job Summary

Here at Chailey Heritage Foundation, we have a very special young man who has been a resident with us for a number of years, but is now ready to move into his own adapted home. We are now looking for a team of people in Kent, with the ability to travel to his home near Edenbridge, to support him to live independently. Here’s what he has to say:

My name is Christopher and I am looking for team of people to support me so I can move to my new specially adapted home.

I have many interests that I would like you to support me with, such as swimming (I have my own pool) the gym, bowling, art and multi-media - in particularly computer games. I have a mean competitive streak so be ready to play hard! I also like to get out and socialise, and enjoy musicals and comedians. And speaking of comedians, I have a wicked sense of humour and enjoy a bit of banter!

I have a tendency to get anxious so I need you to help me build up my confidence by getting to know me and my routines really well, and by providing me with lots of information so I can make the best choices. I’ll need you to have plenty of enthusiasm and to be positive and encouraging.

I am very loyal with a strong sense of what is right and wrong, and have shared my experiences with clinicians as a disabled man as part of a national enquiry and as a result was interviewed on Channel 4. When I move, I want to continue visiting the Life Skills Centre at CHF. I have my own vehicle so you will need to be a driver.

Christopher is 30 yrs. old and has quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He currently lives in a residential home as part of Chailey Heritage Foundation (CHF) He is now ready to move into his own adapted home, and Chailey’s Pathways service will be providing support to him on a 24/7 basis. We are therefore looking for a team of Community Support Staff and a Team Leader who will provide that support on a rota basis to include sleep-ins.

This is what we need from you:

  • The skills and experience required to be able to coordinate Christopher’s needs, including rota management
  • To lead and direct a small team of staff to provide person centred support
  • A working understanding of regulatory requirements and high standards of practice
  • NVQ/QCF/Diploma Level 4 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or willing to work towards

This is what you will get from us:

  • Specific training on how to support Christopher (this will include a transition period working at CHF which is based near Haywards Heath in East Sussex)
  • Competitive rates of pay starting at £22,409 Opportunities to further develop your career via training and development.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Up to 23 days paid holiday.
  • An exciting benefits package for staff
