A Sticky Sensory Session

15 May 2018

Some of the young adults from Futures enjoyed the beautiful weather as they made sticky, seedy bird food for the Willows and Orchard garden.

Toby was initially very put off by the texture of the lard, but still had a go, squishing in raisins, seeds, and nuts to make a great mix. We had chunky peanuts and tiny niger seeds, lots of different textures to mush up into the bird food, and stick to our hands with the lard!

Hannah made her own mix in a bowl and then together we put it into the bird feeder and chose where she wanted to hang it in the garden. We also tried to listen carefully to the birds singing in the trees, and hopefully, there will be lots more once they realise how good our bird food tastes.
