News from the Haywards Heath Lions Swimarathon

Friday 14th April 2017

Now in its 34th year, the Haywards Heath Lions Club's Swimarathon is an annual charity fundraising event held every Good Friday at the Dolphin Leisure Centre, in Haywards Heath. On 14 April, 2017, 57 teams of six took part in a 55-minute-long relay to raise money for a good cause of their own choice and for the Lions Club selected good cause.

Teams included families, schools, guides, brownies, sports clubs, churches, youth clubs, special needs groups, and luncheon clubs.

This year the Lions chose to support Chailey Heritage Foundation as their chosen charity, and are fundraising to support its D.R.E.A.M Centre appeal to create a modern, purpose built space, large enough for children and young people with complex disabilities to participate in a mixture of arts and physical activities.

With another £ 700,000 needed towards the project, the Lions Club and Chailey Heritage were delighted with the support they received from local people and businesses.

The event was supported by Mike Oliver Associates, Waitrose, Sainsburys, the Orchards Shoppping Centre, ILG Logistics and Griffith Smith Farrington Webb Solicitors.

We also held a name the Lion competition  - the winner has called his Lion Kevin

We are very grateful to all who took part and their friends and family, all the sponsors and the Haywards Heath Lions
